Scientific research

Recent scientific research (such as the article published by Psychological Reports, 101, 2007, p. 130-134) suggests that alternative mantra meditation techniques such as the NSR technique may achieve the same results as Transcendental Meditation.

Independent research studies on TM® have been published in around 150 Scientific Journals and have been conducted by dozens of Universities. The research studies on TM are not as many as the Transcendental Meditation Organization claims (600+). However, around 50 of them are very valid.

A meta-analysis of 597 studies of meditation practices was published in the American Journal of Health Promotion (May/June 1998). This study found TM to be significantly superior to other forms of meditation and relaxation in a wide range of criteria related to mental and physical health.
